Fanex Film Convention gave us the opportunity to meet many of the wonderful actors, directors and other creators of these Gothic horrors.
Veronica Carlson has become a valued friend to us and we cherish the day we first met her.  Although Virginia Wetherell has several film credits to her name, she may not be as known to Hammer fans until they learn she is the widow of Hammer hero Ralph Bates.  At FANEX we raised a nice bit of money for the Ralph Bates Cancer charity Virginia oversees.
I really can't think of enough wonderful things to say about Freddie Francis, but I shall never forget the stories I heard and the time I spent with this amazing talent.

Barbara Shelley appeared in Baltimore at FANEX 15.  She had many interesting stories about her Hammer days, and this was one of her only U.S. convention appearances.
In 1999 Midnight Marquee published the U.S. version of Christopher Lee's autobiography.  We brought him over to Monster Rally to sign copies.
Joyce Broughton was much more than Peter Cushing's secretary, indeed she was his friend and confident for many years.  We were so pleased when Joyce came over from England in 1999 for the release of the Peter Cushing autobiography.
Mr. Bernard was such a gentle and talented soul, and his appearance at FANEX 8 was delightful .  What an experience to hear him play some of his compositions in the hotel lobby.  It was something we'll never forget.
